About Us

Ana

My name is Ana Zermeño and this summer, of 2018, I was given the opportunity to take part in a program designed to teach young girls how to code. At Girls Who Code I have gained a number of new skills that I know will benefit me in the future. I have learned and become familiar with HTML, CSS, and even Javascript. I have created my own website to showcase my newly acquired skills. As you cruise through my page you will see all my projects!

Alana

I’m a pansexual, gender neutral bean who's passionate about video games, my cat, YouTubers (Jacksepticeye and Markiplier), and being a good person. I attend the California School of the Arts for Creative Writing, but that doesn’t mean I can’t learn how to code, right? In fact, the reason I decided to learn to code was because I've always wanted to write the plots for video games, and knowing how to code and how to write would enable me to make my own indie games! I haven’t spent too much time on my personal website, so don’t judge me too harshly.

Deanna

Hi everyone! My name is Deanna Oei and I'm a rising high school junior. This summer I took two Girls Who Code campus courses where I learned how to code ios apps with Xcode Swift and websites with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I came to these courses with basic Scratch programming skills and now, five weeks and two programs later, I know how to use four text-based programming languages to make my own projects! I had a lot of fun working with my team this past week and hope you enjoy our interactive story, Success Has NO Gender!

Ashley

Hello, my name is Ashley. I am currrently a rising sophmore. This summer I decided I wanted to learn how to code. I thought I was good at math so you know I must be good at computer science right? Boy, was I wrong. I came into Girls Who Code knowing absolutely nothing about coding. I did not know what HTML, CSS, or Java were. It was frustrating learing these new "languages" but after a few frustrating days I gained confidence and skill. I am now extremely proud of the things I can create using a few semicolons, comas, and brackets.
